Why use Pinterest to Promote your Brand?

Pinterest is a collection of visual boards where users can research, laugh, learn, find inspiration and shop. Half of all millennials use Pinterest every month and more than 14 million articles are pinned daily.  As of January 2018 there are 175 million consumers using Pinterest with more than 50 billion pins.   81% of Pinterest users are women and the majority of active pinners are below 40.  So if you are trying to sell a brand or product to millennial women it is time to dive in and start pinning!

Tips for Pinterest Newbies:

  • Create a Pinterest business account: With a free business account, you can see analytics on your posts and learn what strategies work and what isn’t working for your brand.
  • You can pay to promote your pins: Promoting your pins will embed your pin in consumers searches and generate traffic to your site.
  • SEO strategies work on Pinterest: Think of it like a giant search engine. Using the right keywords will help your pins find their way to the top of consumers search results.
  • You can make pins buyable: It’s free and allows users to purchase items in the Pinterest app. Your company will still coordinate shipping, so there is no third party handling of your product.
  • Create pins with a common theme: Pins are saved to boards that follow themes, so if your brand has a lot of similar themes, you can be repined to the same board multiple times.
  • Make your pins unique: Pins with bold colors or new ideas attract more attention and consumers will most likely click on them.
  • Don’t turn people off of your brand with repining requests: promotions or contests that ask consumers to repin something is not appealing to most Pinterest users. Instead, make your pins visually interesting so they want to click on the pins or even through the pin to your site.
  • Take a class: Pinterest is introducing a new program called the Pinstitute that will teach brands how to market on the site.
